Late last month, I was thrilled to be one of forty contacts invited to the North American Virtual Media Luncheon for Anuga 2021 taking place in Cologne, Germany from October 9 to 13, 2021. It was my first experience with Anuga and this fun mini travel kit from Koelnmesse arrived a few days ahead of the luncheon. It set the international stage for the event. By the time the media event rolled around, I had already dug into the HARIBO Passport Mix!
As a food and health expert, plus a media contact, Anuga 2021 Goes Hybrid was music to my ears. I welcome the opportunity to attend Anuga@home, as we transition out of a global pandemic, and I look forward to attending the in-person event in 2023.
What is Anuga?
Anuga is the world’s leading food fair for the retail trade, the food service and catering markets. It takes place every two years in Cologne, Germany. As one of the world’s most important food and beverage trade fair, it reaches high regard and acceptance for both exhibitors and visitors.
It is not just a single trade fair, but 10 trade shows in one. This concept makes Anuga a unique platform of opportunities for exhibitors and trade visitors. Each of the 10 trade show is dedicated to a significant segment of the food and beverage industry. In addition to the 10 trade shows, the new digital Anuga@home offers an expansive virtual format and networking platform.
For the in-person, Anuga is implementing #B-SAFE4business to ensure all the best practices are in place to keep attendees, press and exhibitors safe, as we transition out of the pandemic.
With its key theme of Future-Proofing the Food Industry, “Transform” is placing the focus on food transformation. The congress and event formats are highlighting Mega Trends such as Sustainability, Health, Convenience, and Digitalisation. As a credentialed health professional with over two decades in the food industry, I am particularly interested in the Health Mega Trend.
Mega Trend Health
The Mega Trend Health with its special format “Free From, Health and Functional” offers the buyer interested in these trend products, a targeted overview. As a result, it provides the exhibitors with a focused stage for product placement with health-oriented additional benefits.
“Transform” will also be visible within the congress and event program of Anuga 2021. The Anuga debut of the New Food Conference organized by ProVeg under the motto “Plant-based meets cellular agriculture”, as well as, the continuation of the innovation summit “Newtrition X – personalized diets”, together with foodregio will place a priority on sustainable and health-promoting food.
Anuga has a clear mission for 2021: To bring the food and beverage industry together for a physical gathering and to provide a forum for face-to-face meetings, maintaining connections, and building sustainable business relationships. Also, with the Anuga 2021 Goes Hybrid format, it offers the chance for an expanded international attendance. Registration opens in July 2021.
I’ll be attending Anuga@home from October 11 to 13 2021. Therefore, I’m looking forward to the online seminars and presentations, visiting exhibitors, and hanging out in the virtual press room to get the latest food innovation and trend information, along with the newest content to share with you and for my media outlets.
