Over the years, I get the same story, parents are time starved and taking time to prepare and teach their children about healthy, nutritious meals is not part of their lifestyle. It does not take hours, but it does take planning and being organized.

This is what I suggest:

  • Identify 5-7 nutritious lunch/dinner recipes that you and your family like (if you need a refresher on healthy and nutritious make and appointment with your local RD);
  • Take one hour every weekend to plan out the week’s meals including the above recipes, grocery shopping and meal timing;
  • Create a grocery list and do a cupboard/refrigerator inventory based on the meals;
  • Create a mealtime event and be mindful of portion sizes;
  • Enjoy and repeat!
