This is one of my favourite times of year in Ontario. The changing colour of the trees, the many fall fairs and all the farm fresh fruits and veggies! Apples and pears are my favourite fruits. They are great sources of fibre. Farm fresh cucumber and leeks make great additions to your recipes. And of course, there are sweet potatoes, pumpkin and squash – all good sources of vitamin A and carotenoids. My favourite are fresh sweet potato fries (in moderation!). I’m looking forward to a terrific weekend of rest and relaxation, visiting with friends and family and enjoying great food. For some people, Thanksgiving eating means abandoning sensible everyday choices while overeating. You can have the delicious tastes of the fall season by going for quality and not the quantity of food. Does it make sense to get your money’s worth at the family dinner? Many people overeat not being mindful of what they are eating and when they are full.
