De-clutter, organize and simplify

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had the opportunity to relax and rejuvenate over the past few weeks. Before the holidays, I worked with a professional organizer to de-clutter my office. It was a great experience. The de-cluttering has had a domino effect on other rooms and areas of my life. I’m on a de-cluttering roll and I feel organized and less stressed. Celebrate Physical Activity Month

What a great month to celebrate physical activity! May is often the kick off to summer. People make plans to open cottages, go camping and we start to think more about how to spend our time outside, starting with the first long weekend of the season.  May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. The campaign is to encourage physical activity and healthy habits. It works to engage, educate, and empower everyone to embrace a healthy lifestyle that includes regular physical activity. February is Heart Month

  Every year, the Heart and Stroke Foundation dedicates the month of February as Heart Month. It is used to raise awareness across the country about the serious risks associated with heart disease and stroke. This year’s campaign is titled “Make Death Wait”, with startling and effective commercials used to raise awareness. You can check out the commercials at http://mdw.heartandstroke.ca.  According to the Heart and Stroke foundation of Canada, heart disease and stroke are two of the three leading causes of death in Canada, with someone becoming another victim every 7 minutes in Canada. Type 2 Diabetes – relationship to Diet and Exercise

More than 9 million Canadians live with diabetes or prediabetes (impaired glucose tolerance). Out of the 2.7 million Canadians with diagnosed diabetes, 90 per cent (2.4 million) are type 2. Type 1 vs. Type 2 Type 2 is distinguished from type 1 by the fact that the pancreas of a person with type 1 diabetes does not produce insulin, while a person with type 2 diabetes either produces inadequate amounts of insulin or suffers from insulin resistance, an inability to process insulin correctly. Insulin is primarily responsible for breaking down sugars, thereby providing the body with the essential energy necessary to perform normal functions.
