Summer time is easy living! Along with the lazy, hazy days…fresher, home-grown foods available from local farms, farmers markets and the grocery store. In July, I look forward to picking raspberries at local farm fields, adding peaches and apricots to my favourite recipes and snacking on cherries throughout my day. These raspberry and apricot squares make a great dessert for a BBQ or picnic http://www.foodland.gov.on.ca/english/fruits/apricots/recipes/rasp-apricot-sq.html One of my favourite root vegetable is beets – the strong purple colour makes any meal more interesting. This beet relish is great to have on hand, as it goes well with fish, pork and poultry! http://www.foodland.gov.on.ca/english/vegetables/beets/recipes/quick-beet-relish.html I always encourage people to try new recipes with their old favourites.
