De-clutter, organize and simplify

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had the opportunity to relax and rejuvenate over the past few weeks. Before the holidays, I worked with a professional organizer to de-clutter my office. It was a great experience. The de-cluttering has had a domino effect on other rooms and areas of my life. I’m on a de-cluttering roll and I feel organized and less stressed. Hydrating in the Summer Heat

The warm weather gives us thoughts of fun outdoor activities, late night BBQs and sipping a tall glass of fresh lemonade. Hydration is important all year round, especially in warm weather because being hydrated keeps the body from overheating. When you exercise, your muscles generate heat. To keep from burning up, your body needs to get rid of that heat. The main way the body discards heat in warm weather is through sweat. As sweat evaporates, it cools the tissues beneath. Coffee Tasting Experience

Recently, I organized a coffee tasting with five other foodies at the Hacienda Roasting Company http://www.matteroftaste.ca/ The workshop was one hour in length and we learned about the growing and roasting process, plus three different methods to brew coffee. It was a great experience! Type 2 Diabetes – relationship to Diet and Exercise

More than 9 million Canadians live with diabetes or prediabetes (impaired glucose tolerance). Out of the 2.7 million Canadians with diagnosed diabetes, 90 per cent (2.4 million) are type 2. Type 1 vs. Type 2 Type 2 is distinguished from type 1 by the fact that the pancreas of a person with type 1 diabetes does not produce insulin, while a person with type 2 diabetes either produces inadequate amounts of insulin or suffers from insulin resistance, an inability to process insulin correctly. Insulin is primarily responsible for breaking down sugars, thereby providing the body with the essential energy necessary to perform normal functions.
